The information that is contained on this website was gleaned from posts from the group.  I have tried to be correct in what is currently important to the group.  By no means is any of this written in stone.  I depend upon the group to ask for changes, additions and deletions.

Below is an explanation about the background tartan.  I was unable to access the Fife site.  So, the background is what it is.  I hope it is not an eyesore.   Just so that everyone is on the same page, the background tartan IS NOT a tartan for this group.  It is used for the decoration of this website.

If you have ideas for pictures to be associated with textual information, by all means, let me know.  I will do my best to accommodate your interests.

Please direct your comments to me.  Thanks.

  The Background Tartan:

The tartan in the background was based on the R.C.L.P. (Rosslyn Chapel Livery / Promotional tartan).  However, several changes have been made, making it a unique design.

  • The blue of the RCLP has been changed to black.
  • The size of the resulting black weave has been enlarged.
  • The violet or purple weave of RCLP has been changed to gold and enlarged.
  • Two strands of white have been replaced with black and enlarged.
  • The size of the green weave has been enlarged.
  • The red weave has been enlarged.
  • The remaining white weave has been thinned or reduced.
  • The three straw yellow or light orange  weaves have been changed to dark gold and enlarged.

Please Note:   the background tartan _is not_ the official tartan of this group.  It is intended to serve as a temporary design to embellish the pages of this website until an official tartan is designed or adopted.  The background for any given page of this site may change to display other tartans for the perusal of the group.  Any suggestions regarding the design of an official tartan should be sent directly to Scott, USA, and not clog traffic on the official list or group.

Color legend
Black The mystery of Rosslyn in the shadows of darkness.
Gold The gold of Masonic Light brimming from out of the mystery of the Chapel
Green Symbolic of life which has and will surround the Chapel through the ages.
Red Cross on White: Emblematic of the Knights Templar
Dark gold: Three strands, again representing Masonic Light,  placed between the Templar Cross and the dark mysteries of the Chapel, symbolizing the enigmatic association of Masonry and Knights Templar at Rosslyn Chapel.
