Establishing the
general idea to date.....
1. To form a recognized Lodge under the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
2. Have it formed as a World Lodge, with its base dedicated to
William St.Clair of Rosslyn.
3. The lodge would be governed by the Constitution drawn up by
Brethren from the Scottish Constitution, adhering to, all the laws and
wishes of the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
4. This lodge would be based on Friendship and Brotherhood from
masons from around the world who are members of Grand Lodges who are
formally recognized by the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
5. Members from around the world of Recognized Grand Lodges would be
eligible for membership, providing that they acquire membership as laid
down by the Grand Lodge of Scotland.
6. It is envisaged that this lodge will not be a Research Lodge as
it will certainly encroach on other more senior Research Lodges, nor will
it be a normal lodge as the giving of degrees would be a nightmare for our
foreign Brethren.
Also:
A traveling warrant is not possible, as the Grand Lodge of Scotland
does not issue traveling warrants. We would be able to travel, as a lodge,
should a Grand Master from any Constitution formally invite us to visit
and sit in their Constitutional Area.
However, I would propose, since Scotland is the governing
Constitution, that at least two of its yearly meetings be held in
Scotland. I would further propose that for each of our meetings a paper
would be presented outlining freemasonry in the different Constitutions
etc. For example, I could and would present a paper to the Lodge meeting
outlining freemasonry under the Irish Constitution. Other items, which
could be put into the lodge agenda, may be speakers who are our present
historical guardians, e.g., Bro. Bob Cooper the present Grand Lodge of
Scotland's Curator and Librarian. (Just my Ideas)
Now, Brother John Porter indicated another way of getting our plan
into action. He indicated that some lodges in the Glasgow area might be
interested in our affiliating to them so we would assure their
continuance. I think this idea has merit but only as plan B. This would
mean changing present Lodge by laws etc, to accommodate a bunch of
foreigners so to speak. I totally approve of this idea as Plan B.
